Shreyas Iyer's sister, Shresta Iyer, has now deleted her viral reel after the KKR clash. The video featured several PBKS players and said that the team rewarded KKR with a free point. Following the online abuses, she removed the video and explained this step via Instagram stories.

A few days back, Shresta Iyer posted a reel on her Instagram account. This came after the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings ended in a washout. In the reel, several players from Punjab Kings were also featured, as it said that the team was way too good to reward KKR with a free point.

While this reel was created in sarcasm, things didn't go as expected. She received a number of online abuses and eventually deleted the reel from her Instagram account. Several fans were shocked when the video was not visible on her Instagram account, as Shresta posted a story to explain what she did.

She wrote,“I’ve decided to take down my recent video as it seems it was misunderstood by some. It was meant to be light-hearted banter, but I respect that not everyone saw it that way. However, it’s been quite upsetting to receive not just negativity, but also a few threat messages over it. That’s something I didn’t expect, especially for something that was never intended to harm anyone.I’m not removing the video because I believe I did something wrong, but because I respect my brother and his team, and I don’t want this space to turn into one filled with negativity. Let’s try to be a little kinder and more understanding with each other.”

Our Take

The move by Shresta Iyer to delete the reel has received mixed reactions, as some fans think that it was truly a light banter. And what's IPL without banters? For several years players and even their family members have trolled the other IPL teams like this, but facing online abuses for the same was truly unexpected for Shresta Iyer.
