The Wankhede Stadium is now having a new stand for the fans, as it was recently inaugurated in the stadium. This stand is dedicated to honour the former Indian player and Head Coach, Ravi Shastri. The Mumbai Cricket Association decided to honour him with the same, as Shastri has done so much for the domestic and Indian team both.

The MCA has rewarded Shastri with a Level 1 Stand to his name, which is near the Press Box. It is the exact same location where Ravi Shastri smashed six sixes in an over in a Ranji Trophy match. This is a place which he would definitely not forget in his life, noting the fact that it also has a stand dedicated to him.

The stand was inaugurated by the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. The videos show Ravi Shastri getting emotional as his stand gets unfurled in front of his eyes. Along with that, several other stands and gates were inaugurated, which included Eknath Solkar, Diana Edulji, and Dilip Sardesai.

Our Take

The Mumbai Cricket Association has taken a great step to honour Ravi Shastri with his own stand. The legendary star has given a lot to the Indian team as a player and a Head Coach. Moreover, his contribution to Mumbai also remains vital, as it came at a time when the game was not much popular in India. As of now, Shastri remains an active commentator in the international games and the IPL, but his contributions to the Indian team and Mumbai remains unmatched.
