Injury Crisis Deepens for CSK as Ayush Mhatre Faces Likely Exit
Chennai Super Kings are having a bad time this season, facing injury issues. A few days back, Khaleel Ahmed was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. Now it is being reported that Ayush Mhatre would be missing out on three weeks of action for them.
Chennai Super Kings continue to suffer with injuries in the IPL 2026 season. Earlier the team went through injuries of Nathan Ellis, Dewald Brevis, and MS Dhoni. A few days back, their primary bowler Khaleel Ahmed was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. And now another player has joined this list.
And it is none other than the youngster, Ayush Mhatre. He had been doing well for the team in this season, consistently scoring runs for them. But in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he suffered with a left hamstring injury. It happened when Mhatre tried taking a double, but he was not able to reach back to the crease safely.
The team physios were able to quickly take a look at Mhatre and assess his condition. It has been reported that Ayush Mhatre would be missing out action for almost 3 weeks. This comes as a major setback for Chennai Super Kings, as Michael Hussey also reacted to the same, saying that it's quite unfortunate for the team.
Our Take
Ayush Mhatre turned out to be one of the key batsmen for Chennai Super Kings. Despite being a young talent, he stood out in a team which was already filled with various experienced players. Coming in at number three, he was able to continue the high scoring rate which in turn helped CSK a lot in the IPL games. But him being ruled out for three weeks also comes as a massive setback for the team, as it remains to be seen whom they bring in his place.
