Srikkanth Takes a Dig at Hardik Pandya After Mumbai Indians Loss

Hardik Pandya has remained the center of attention after MI’s brutal loss against Chennai Super Kings. In the death overs when the runs could have been stopped, Pandya didn't bowl a single over for the team. This move by Hardik is being questioned by former Indian cricketer, Kris Srikkanth.

Mumbai Indians have suffered their biggest loss in the history of the IPL, and that too in the El Clásico match. This time it was Hardik Pandya who was leading the team, but his contributions remained the least. He bowled just two overs in the game and conceded a massive total of 38 runs.

Following this, Pandya didn't even bowl a single over for Mumbai Indians in the death overs. This has even triggered mixed reactions from the fans and cricket analysts. In the T20 World Cup, Pandya has primarily been a death over specialist, but he decided not to bowl for the team in the Indian Premier League in the death overs.

Kris Srikkanth talked on this matter, as he said,“A player who has bowled the death overs in the T20 World Cup is scared of bowling the same here. MI's problem starts here only. This is why you should bat first after winning the toss. You at least have a chance of single-handed heroics, like Tilak Varma in the last match or Sanju Samson today. Hardik Pandya got that also wrong.”

Our Take

Kris Srikkanth is not the only one who thinks Hardik Pandya should have been handed over the death overs. The decision still remains questioned and it will be a topic of discussion for Mumbai Indians while they prepare for the upcoming match. With Hardik Pandya as the captain, it is also necessary for him to step up for the team when needed.
