Kuldeep Yadav might be a part of the playing XI in the second Test. India's spin coach, Sairaj Bahutule, has backed him for the second Test, saying that he would bounce back well. Kuldeep bowled 25 overs in the first Test and was only able to take a wicket for the team.

India was able to secure a win in the first Test, but Kuldeep Yadav remained a key concern. While the pitch was dominated by spinners, Manav Suthar was able to take 10 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja also secured 4. But Kuldeep Yadav bowled 25 overs in this game, and managed to take just a wicket.

His form has been a major concern for the Indian team, and it was also unclear whether he would play in the second Test or not. Reports even suggested that Saransh Jain started practicing with the team for the second Test. But recently, Sairaj Bahutule, the spin coach of the Indian team has backed him.

In an interview, he said, “I think we had to see how the trajectory or the speeds work in every session, and as the days went by and as there was a demand for different types of speeds and different types of trajectories, he definitely was making an effort to bowl that. I think he was playing his role, and again, just to mention that each bowler has his own strengths. So he was operating as a wrist spinner in a way where obviously the wicket got slower and slower each day, but I am sure he was bowling the way he normally bowls.”

Our Take

Kuldeep Yadav has been backed by the Indian spin coach for the second Test. And he is also hopeful that the Colombo pitch will be suiting Kuldeep to a great extent. Now it is time for the spinner to actually do his work and perform well in the second Test against Sri Lanka.
