The tensions between the BCCI and BCB might get solved in the upcoming weeks. The BCB has shown interest in solving their tensions with the BCCI, which went down a few months back. With their exclusion from the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh has resolved its issues with the ICC, as their next target remains the BCCI.

Two Asian nations which didn't have good relations might end their differences within the next few months. And it is not India Pakistan, it is India and Bangladesh. Within the last few months, the tensions between both of these teams grew to such a great extent, that Bangladesh even pulled themselves out of the T20 World Cup.

While they were replaced by Scotland, the team got to know that having bad relations with the BCCI might not benefit them much. The new sports minister of Bangladesh, Aminul Haque, has expressed his concern on the strained relations with the Indian team. He also talked about solving the issues as soon as possible, getting the game back on track.

Aminul Haque’s Big Move

Several political changes have been made in Bangladesh over the last few days, and it has been possible with the help of elections which took place in the country. After the elections, Aminul Haque has now taken over the post of Minister of Youth and Sports. He has also been the captain of Bangladesh's national football team.

And immediately after taking the position, he talked about some reforms which the cricket team needed. The tensions between the BCB and BCCI have strained over the last few months. This has also led to some strained relations with the ICC, as Bangladesh was also replaced by Scotland in the T20 World Cup.

In his speech, Aminul Haque said, “After taking the oath today, I met with the deputy high commissioner of India at the Parliament building. I discussed the T20 World Cup with him. It was a cordial conversation. I told him that we want to resolve this issue quickly through discussions because we want to maintain friendly relations with all our neighbouring countries.”

He continued by saying, “From sports to all other sectors, we want to build a sincere and cordial relationship [with India]. You know that because of diplomatic complications, we could not play in the World Cup. If those issues had been discussed and settled earlier, our team might have participated.”

Tensions Between BCB and BCCI

The tensions between BCCI and the BCB started to grow after the IPL auction. But even before that, Bangladesh was having a political turmoil which led to some changes. The India tour of Bangladesh for the ODI series was scheduled in 2025, but it was postponed by both boards. Currently it is scheduled to take place in September 2026, but the dates are still not confirmed.

In the IPL auction, Mustafizur Rahman was the only Bangladeshi player who was bought by any team. But, taking a look at the geopolitical tensions between India and Bangladesh, the BCCI had to give some orders to the KKR franchise. They had to remove Rahman from their squad after the orders, and this is where the real tensions began.

The Bangladesh cricket team decided that they won't be playing the T20 World Cup if their games are scheduled in India. They even demanded their games to be shifted to Sri Lanka, citing security concerns for their request of not playing in India. The BCB tried its best to convince ICC to shift their venue, but they failed in it.

Eventually, the ICC also gave a deadline to them to decide whether they will play in India or forfeit their place in the T20 World Cup. With Bangladesh deciding not to play in India, they were immediately replaced by Scotland. Amidst all this, Scotland received the most benefit, as they were able to make it to the T20 World Cup 2026.

Did PCB Benefit BCB?

After the Bangladesh cricket team was removed from the T20 World Cup, only one team came in their support. And it was the Pakistan cricket team, who decided not to take the field against India. Several talks took place in this matter, and eventually, the PCB laid out its demands in front of the ICC which could cancel the boycott.

One of them was not to impose any penalty or sanctions on the BCB. And this was accepted. While the clash between India and Pakistan took place, it was Bangladesh who received the most benefit. It was also noted by the ICC that Bangladesh will also be in contention to host two ICC events before the 2031 World Cup. Some reports also claim that the BCB officials talked with the BCCI officials during the India Pakistan clash at Colombo.
