The Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Sixers game in the BBL got off to a refreshing start with Ben Manenti holding the spirit of the game high. The off-spinner collided with non-striker Thomas Rogers while collecting the ball but refrained from running him out despite the batter being out of the crease.

With both Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers hustling for the playoff spots in the Big Bash League at a crucial phase, their meeting in Melbourne was expected to be an entertaining contest. The visitors decided to put the Stars in after winning the toss and the game got off to a refreshing start at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The sixers opted to start their attack with off spinner Ben Manenti, who bowled a stump to stump line on a back of a length first up. With Sam Harper going on the back foot to punch it straight back, Manenti was quick to move towards his right in his attempt to stop the ball.

But the spinner collided with non-striker Thomas Rogers just as he stopped the white rock with the batter losing control of his willow due to the impact of the coming together. And he was well short of the crease too, as Manenti funnily took aim at the stumps giving the non-striker the scare of his life.

With the batter pulling all the stops to get back to the crease, Manenti backed off with a cheeky smile as the batter got back to his crease before patting him. It was an excellent show of sportsmanship from the offie in a cut throat competitive tournament.

The commentators rightly called that it was an excellent and friendly start to proceeding at the MCG. Twitter was in awe of Manenti’s mangnanimity as they hailed his action of not going for the runout.
