Delhi Capitals Women and UP Warriorz Women will face each other on January 14 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy stadium in Navi Mumbai. Both teams come into the match after multiple losses in a row, and another one to the tally might already derail their path to progression in the league.

In the first season of the WPL, the Delhi Capitals-W & UP Warriorz-W teams got to know each other pretty well. Delhi usually won these games, but UP Warriorz showed more than once that they could put up a fight thanks to their strong and versatile lineup.

Both teams have had an uncertain start to the 2026 season. Neither of them looks stable yet. The match in Navi Mumbai could be a key moment, as the field requires careful play. It is important to bowl well and understand the roles in batting. Mistakes at the start of innings and in the last overs often lead to loss.

Form Guide

The form of Delhi Capitals-W causes concern. After a strong win over RCB Women in March 2025, the team lost its stability. In matches against MI Women and GG Women in January 2026, Delhi stayed close to the target until the last overs several times but could not win. This shows they can score runs, but they do not finish innings well.

UP Warriorz-W also have a weak form. Their only win in the last five matches came against RCB Women, where the team won with tight bowling and control over the opponents’ innings. In other matches, UP lost early wickets, which put pressure on the middle order.

Delhi Capitals-W & UP Warriorz-W Head-to-Head

The head-to-head matches in recent years have been dominated by Delhi Capitals-W. Between 2023 and 2025, the teams played six matches, and Delhi won four of them while they lost only two.

Most of the matches were closely contested. Delhi often took control thanks to a strong top order and consistent run-scoring in the middle innings.

Pitch and Weather

The match will take place at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The pitch is even and good for both batting and bowling, especially in the first 10 overs.

In the later part of the game, spin bowlers and those who change speed can be more effective.

The weather will be dry, with temperatures around 25-27°C. No rain is expected. Light dew may appear in the evening, which can make bowling harder.

The captain who wins the toss will probably choose to bowl first to use the conditions and make the chase easier.

Team News

Delhi Capitals-W maintain a balanced lineup with an emphasis on the top order. Shafali Verma remains a key aggressive opener, while Jemimah Rodrigues plays an important role in the middle order. Marizanne Kapp and Chinelle Henry are expected to contribute more at key moments in the innings.

UP Warriorz-W focuses on experience. Meg Lanning sets the batting order, while Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone form the backbone of the bowling attack. After a series of losses, the team may focus on reliability rather than aggression in the early overs.
