Dawson was able to remove Coles for 32, and even took the wicket of Tom Alsop to slow down Sussex’s momentum. John Simpson played a composed innings after this, as he stitched a crucial 58-run knock with Jack Leaning. A turning point arrived in the 17th over, when James Fuller removed both set batsmen in consecutive deliveries. Scott Currie and Chris Wood showed discipline in the death overs, as Sussex finished at the score of 165/7 in 20 overs.

In reply, Hampshire also lost the wicket of Toby Albert early, but James Vince took the command. The captain of Hampshire was able to play with elegance and authority, as he easily found boundaries in cover and mid wicket region. Tristan Stubbs was able to provide a cameo of 39 runs off 21 balls, which turned out to be explosive.

When Stubbs lost his wicket, Sussex was able to fight back well with the help of Tymal Mills and Danny Briggs. But James Vince remained composed to anchor the chase.
