The IPL 2026 winners have suffered a blow for the next season. Tim David has been handed a one match suspension in the upcoming season, as he was handed 2 demerit points. David poured ice on his coach, as it also went on the umpire, Nitin Menon.

The celebrations after the IPL win have gone bad for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru once again. After the team won the title last time, Phil Salt was the one who poured ice buckets on his teammates. And this time, Tim David decided that he should help Phil Salt in the same to make the celebrations memorable.

But for him, the celebration will be remembered even when RCB plays its opening game next season. Tim David poured the ice on his Head Coach, Andy Flower, and some of it even went towards the umpire of the game, Nitin Menon. Following this, he even made a complaint for this matter to the match referee.

Eventually, Tim David was fined 50% of his match fees and was also handed two demerit points. Now his demerit points have reached 5, due to which David will be suspended for the IPL opener in the upcoming season. The ice bucket has now turned out to be a costly celebration for David, as he would be missing out on a game.

Our Take

Tim David didn't have a clear history in this IPL, when it comes to the merit points. He was already handed a few demerit points earlier this season, where the incident against Mumbai Indians caught everyone's attention. David was caught showing middle finger on camera, and strict actions for the same were taken. Now, this incident against the umpire has also caught significant attention, as he has been handed over a suspension for one game.
