Virat Kohli played a match winning knock for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the finals. Scoring 75 in the chase, he showed why everyone calls him the chase master. Moreover, Kohli won the POTM award for the same, overtaking Rohit Sharma for most POTM in IPL as an Indian.

Virat Kohli's dominance in the Indian Premier League continues. Even though he retired from the T20 format two years ago, he still continues to deliver match winning performances for his team. And he did it again when Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced Gujarat Titans in the finals.

The target was just 156 runs, and taking a look at RCB's batting depth, it seemed easy to be achieved. But wickets fell as Kohli stayed composed on the other end. He finished the game with a six, scoring 75 runs in the chase, which helped him to be the POTM in the finals. This was Virat Kohli's 22nd POTM award in the IPL.

And with this, he has overtaken Rohit Sharma in the list of most POTM awards in IPL by an Indian. Overall, Virat Kohli stands at the 2nd spot in the list, as he is tied with Chris Gayle. AB de Villiers is holding the top spot in the same, as he has won 25 POTM awards in the Indian Premier League.

Our Take

Virat Kohli continues to be a star performer in the Indian Premier League. He has achieved a number of records in the tournament but he was never able to win a POTM award in the tournament finals. While he reached close to winning the title on several occasions, he fell short in the majority of the games. And finally, Kohli was able to achieve the same in yesterday's clash against Gujarat Titans.
