India A was able to start the game comfortably well with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prabhsimran Singh. The pair attacked the new ball and added 63 runs in the powerplay itself, when Chamika Gunasekara dismissed Prabhsimran Singh at the score of 34. Vaibhav was able to continue well, as he stitched a partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad.

In the middle overs, it was all about Gaikwad's domination as he rotated strike effectively. With the captain, Tilak Varma, he was able to stitch a 91-run stand for the third wicket, which ensured that India A remained in control in the game. Sri Lanka A spinners were able to slow down the scoring rate but Gaikwad completed his fifty with ease.

The turning point arrived in the final 10 overs when Tilak Varma and Ayush Badoni launched a crucial attack on the bowlers. With their late flourish, the team was able to finish at the score of 289/7, with Gaikwad scoring 87 and Tilak Varma scoring 61.

Sri Lanka A received a positive start with Niroshan Dickwella and Avishka Fernando, as the team went on to score 55 runs in the first ten overs. But Anshul Kamboj was able to break the opening stand before Anukul Roy and Vipraj Nigam applied brakes to the scoring rate in the middle overs.
