Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was involved in a physical altercation with Sri Lanka A players. The match referee didn't take any action on the youngster till now, but Devajit Saikia, the BCCI secretary has reacted to the same. He said that the board doesn't have much to do on these matters.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is still on the headlines following his controversy against Sri Lanka A. It happened a few days back in Dambulla, when Sooryavanshi even pushed one of the players when the verbal argument became heated. Following this, no actions were taken against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, as he even played in the match against Afghanistan A.

Recently, BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, was present in a conference where a number of questions were asked to him. While he responded to the questions related to the IPL schedule, heatwave conditions, player injuries, and more, he also talked about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's controversy.

Devajit Saikia said, “A lot of things are being discussed on social media, including speculation that the BCCI is contemplating action. But do you want the BCCI to step into the domain of the match referee? The BCCI is not the authority in such matters. We should not intrude into an area where the match referee and the umpires are the primary officials empowered to take decisions regarding incidents that occur on the field of play.”

Our Take

The altercation between Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sri Lanka A players was solved quickly and it didn't escalate further. While Devajit Saikia has made it clear that no actions will be taken on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on this matter by the BCCI, Vaibhav still has some lessons to learn. He will be looking at his form in the current series at first, since India A has qualified for the final clash, and he is yet to register a big score for the team.
