Shreyas Iyer is about to lead India for the first time in the shortest format. Ahead of his first game as a captain, Iyer made a change in his Instagram bio. He updated his date of birth to 25 December, marking it as his second DOB, which has left the fans talking.

Shreyas Iyer will be starting a new chapter in his cricket career tomorrow with the series against Ireland. He has been named as the captain of the Indian team in the T20I format, as the team begins its preparations for the 2028 T20 World Cup.

And right before the series against Ireland, Shreyas Iyer made a noticeable change to his Instagram bio. He updated his bio by mentioning that his second date of birth is 25 December 2025. This has left the cricket fans confused to some extent, like how can a player have two different date of births.

But it should be noted that 25 December is the date when Shreyas Iyer held the cricket bat again. He suffered with a brutal injury in his spleen, which also caused some internal bleeding during the third ODI match against Australia. After going through a threatening event, he was able to make his recovery and get back to the game from 25 December.

Our Take

Shreyas Iyer is somehow right when he mentioned that 25 December 2025 is his second date of birth. When he got injured in the third ODI match against Australia, no one expected that he will be able to make it back to the game. But going through a recovery being supported by the doctors in Sydney and the BCCI, he was able to make a speedy recovery.
