The IPL 2026 is about to be a banger, as one team has already been sold. Rajasthan Royals has acquired new owners in a record deal of 15,300 crore rupees. While the new owners have received a lot of benefit through this deal, there is someone else who came out on top. And it is none other than Shane Warne, who was earlier a part of the team.

Warne played just 4 seasons for Rajasthan Royals, and he took a combined salary of 9.35 crore rupees. However, he also took 0.75% equity of the team for every season. And playing 4 seasons, he got 3% equity of the team, with his last IPL season coming back in 2011.

Now the team has been sold to a US-based consortium led by tech entrepreneur Kal Somani, Shane Warne has received a lot of benefit. The team was sold for a whopping total of 15,300 crore, and Warne also had 3% share in it. For this, he received a total of 460 crore rupees, making him the most paid IPL player in history.

Our Take

Shane Warne has come out as the real mastermind in the IPL. He tackled the batsmen with his unplayable spin deliveries. And now he has also tackled several renowned investors and fans with a strategy he used back when the IPL started. Despite his last IPL season coming back in IPL 2011, he has now become the highest paid IPL player.

Just one deal has made Shane Warne get a whopping total of 460 crore. This is not even the combined IPL earnings of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. As for Rajasthan Royals, the new owners will take control over the team once the IPL 2026 comes to an end.
