Virat Kohli was present at the RCB Innovation Lab yesterday. He talked about a number of things, including some reasons behind his Test retirement. Kohli retired from the longest format on 12 May, as he talked about the possible reasons and accountability for the same.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru had an interactive event yesterday, which was the RCB Innovation Lab. This event featured various top players from the team, including Virat Kohli. Being the top icon of the team, he even participated in an interview, where a number of things were asked to The King.

Since it is the month of May, some questions were also related to his test retirement. Even after being India's finest Test batsman in this generation, he walked away from his favourite format silently. Kohli had announced his retirement from Tests on 12 May 2025, and it has now been a year since his retirement.

Recently in the RCB Innovation Lab, he said, “It was difficult to manage expectations of, okay, if you win, you don’t score runs, then, you’re asked about your performances. And if you perform and you don’t win, you’re asked about the results. So I was always juggling between the two and trying to manage as best as I could.”

Our Take

Virat Kohli has talked about the same a number of times. He even said it during the podcast which he had with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite being one of India's finest Test batsmen in this generation, he had to walk away as if he didn't even matter to the team. While India continues its transition period in the longest format, fans will forever remember the Test dominance they had when Kohli led the team.
