Chennaiyin FC coach John Gregory has stated that his team has given its 100 percent in all the matches they have lost and their approach will result in better results in upcoming matches. The defending champions have been on a bad run letting matches slip after being from comfortable positions.

After lifting the trophy last season, it has been a kind of role reversal for the Chennaiyin FC as they have lost all the three encounters they have played this season and are languishing at the bottom of the pile in the points table. The Chennaiyin FC coach John Gregory, though, has backed his boys unequivocally and also commended their approach in the three preceding games.

“You can always look at reasons why we haven’t started well. And you can always make your own judgements and your own assessments. But the effort has certainly been first class. The effort that all the boys have put in the first three games has been incredible. And, certainly, I’ve got no problem with how they’ve approached every game” Gregory said at the pre match press conference.

Emphasizing that it was still early days in the season and the three consecutive losses have not dented the confidence of his team, the Chennaiyin FC coach said that the team is totally fit and ready for the challenge. The team plays its next match against Delhi Dynamos who have also not started well this season.

“The boys are feeling good. Very good and all are very fit. All 25 players are in contention. And, of course, we know that playing against Delhi, we have a couple of our old boys there from last season who both have got gold medals. So, we’re expecting a tough game.”

The situation for the two-time ISL Champions has not been good as they have let the match slip out of hand after being in commanding positions like in the match against Northeast United where at one point they were leading 3-1 but ultimately went on to lose the match 3-4.

“Well, I do know what’s wrong. Obviously, when you see the video evidence you see where we made genuine errors. It’s just making people aware of it. Making the players aware of it, letting them see on video exactly some of the positions that we got ourselves in, which allowed opportunity for the opposition.

"We did so well to get ourselves 3-1 up against NorthEast and then it was just people not marking when they should have been marking. People not concentrating when they should have been concentrating and that gave opportunities to the opposition. It’s just little points we’ve highlighted to our boys and once we make sure that that side of their game is good, I’ve got no fears for the rest of the season,” he explained.
