Call me crazy, but I believe I can be successful coach, says Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry has revealed that he could become a successful coach despite an unsuccessful tenure at AS Monaco. The 42-year-old took over the Ligue 1 giants in 2018 but a mere 20 matches later he was sacked by the club, winning just four games. The club dropped even further down the Ligue 1 table after Henry's appointment, although Leonardo Jardim’s re-appointment did help them survive.

But despite his struggles, Henry has revealed in an exclusive to the Telegraph that he would love to coach again and that he believes he has the ability to one day become a successful manager. The Frenchman has further added that he’s already got five job offers, although he hasn’t got the right one yet.

“Call me crazy if you want, but I love football and I believe I can be a successful coach. I’m not thinking about the pain, I’m not thinking about failure. I don’t like easy. I like to lead and it’s on me to make it happen. The same when I joined Arsenal as a player, the same when I went to Belgium with Roberto,” Henry told the Telegraph in an exclusive.

“It’s an evolution. My phone didn’t ring for four months after I left Monaco and then all of a sudden I got five calls. Some were not what I was looking for and some were as a number two. I won’t do a number two job because I want to be a number one. I came out of it fully reassured that’s what I want to do, zero doubt about it,” he concluded.
