Bengaluru FC have roped in Chennaiyn FC star Raphael Augusto after Chennaiyin FC announced earlier on the day that the Brazilian midfielder had left the club after first joining in 2015. Augusto has signed a contract with the Blues until the 2020-2021 season adding glitter to the star-studded squad.

The defending champions have already parted ways with star striker Miku and Xisco Hernandez needed reinforcements fast, with the league starting from October 20. And although not a like for like replacement for them but Augusto would bring in the much-needed flair and physical presence in BFC’s midfield.

He became the sixth foreigner on Carles Cuadrat's roster and perhaps the best of the lot has traded places from the 2017-18 champions to the 2018-19 champions.

"I was amazed in the manner in which the club fought tooth and nail to win the championship last season. Bengaluru have a good coach, a good set of players and some amazing fans and I'm sure all of us can win more titles for the club," Augusto expressed his delight on the move, reported PTI.

Making a whopping 68 appearances in all competitions for the club, Augusto has scored seven goals and provided six assists for Chennaiyin FC. He was instrumental in both of the Marina Machan’s title wins and Cuadrat sounded delighted with the acquisition.

"We're all aware of and have seen the kind of talent he possesses. The onus is now on us to get the best out of an exceptional player like Raphael. We have a season that also includes Asian competition and a title-defence, and it's going to take experience, talent and hard work to make it a successful one. I believe that Raphael brings all three attributes to the dressing room."
