Real Madrid new man Rodrygo could leave on loan to La Liga side Espanyol, before the window ends. The 18-year old-forward was signed from Brazilian club Santos this summer, but, he is yet to make his appearance either the first team or Real’s Castilla side, as he recovers from a thigh injury.

Rodrygo arrived at the Bernabéu this summer in a €45m deal, on the back of some solid performances for the Brazilian side Santos. The 18-year-old has also impressed during Real Madrid’s pre-season friendlies but Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has placed him in the reserves for the time being. The club already has 26 players in its squad, one more than the permissible limit.

As a result, the Los Blancos are eager to offload either striker Mariano, or someone else, before the transfer window closes. Zidane is also considering sending Rodrygo to Espanyol on a loan so that he gains some valuable top flight experience, reports Spanish newspaper AS.

The Spanish giants have employed a similar approach with their recent Japanese acquisition, Kubo, who has been sent to Mallorca, after having seen such moves pay off in the past as well - both Lucas Vasquez and Marco Asensio had been loaned out to Espanyol in the past.

The loan move would also be of great help to Espanyol, as their prolific striker Borja Iglesias has left to join Real Betis during the summer. The Los Blancos continue to enjoy good relations with Catalan club and hopes that Rodrygo’s skills will be polished at the Cornella.
