Real Kashmir coach David Robertson and his son Mason Robertson extended their contract for the next season with the I-League outfit amidts massive speculations of the duo leaving. The team from the valley finished third on the league table this season before reaching the pre-quarters of Super Cup.

The former Aberdeen and Rangers ace had first taken charge of the I-League club two years back in 2017 and since then Real Kashmir haven’t looked back. Under David’s management, the club won promotion to the top flight and followed it up a brilliant third-place finish in I-League.

Playing 19 matches, Real Kashmir have won 10 of them and drew six. The leader of the pack, Mason Robertson, had initially started as a centre half for the side before he was seen getting promoted up top as a striker. He ended up scoring four times in the league and once in the Super Cup, which had linked the former Peterhead FC forward with I-League giants Mohun Bagan this summer.

However, the father-son duo put all speculation to rest by committing themselves to the club for one more season. In a video posted on Twitter, David Robertson said, “For me, I’d just like to thank the supporters for all their support and encouragement throughout the season. We are committed to Real Kashmir for next season. I thank the owners for their fantastic support. “Without you the season wouldn’t have been as successful as it was.”

Mason Robertson said, “Also, a big thanks to the ownership group. A fantastic group that have given me so much support. The players, staff, just a great team effort. I would like to say that I’ve committed to Real Kashmir for next season. I can’t wait to get the season started in front of the best I-League fans and accomplish more than we did last season.”

Real Kashmir also announced it soon on their twitter handle.

“BIG ANNOUNCEMENT.RKFC is delighted to announce that father son duo of David and Mason Robertson have extended their contracts with Real Kashmir FC. Let the season begin.”
