Manchester United won’t take 30 years to win next title, promises Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ahead of a crucial clash against Liverpool, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken a subtle dig at the Reds claiming it will not take Manchester United 30 years to win a title. The Reds are looking to end their title drought and currently sit first with five points separating them and Manchester City.

The Reds were last crowned champions back in the 1989/90 season, losing out on making it two consecutive titles as Arsenal beat them to it the season before, and have never won a league title since then. Not only that, both Liverpool and Tottenham are the only Big Six sides to have never won a league title in the Premier League so far making things very problematic for both sides. Liverpool’s lack of titles in the Premier League era also meant that Manchester United could leapfrog them and they did just that by winning 13 league titles.

No club has won more in the Premier League but the Reds travel to Old Trafford five points clear at the top of the table with the Red Devils struggling having picked up just nine points from their eight games. Yet, despite that, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that it will never take the Red Devils 30 years to win their next title. The Norwegian went on to add that he believes the club will eventually bounce back and start winning trophies once again.

"I am sure we will bounce back and win the league. And I am sure it won't be 30 years until the next Premier League that we do win. A good performance and result for us here can turn a season. It can change players' confidence, players' mood, their perception of what is good,” said Solskjaer reports Sky Sports.

The Red Devils have struggled to make an impact this season and it has seen them win just nine points from their eight league games. That run includes losses to Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, West Ham United and wins against just Chelsea and Southampton. Not only that, with nine points to their name, Manchester United sit just one point above the relegation zone and a loss will hurt the club badly. But Solskjaer went on to add that it's only down to a lack of confidence.

"Maybe they haven't really believed they are good enough at times. With a lack of confidence, you think twice instead of acting on instinct. But I know these players are good enough - no worries about that," concluded the Norwegian.
