Southampton stepped up their game against Wolves, attests Ralph Hassenhuttl

Southampton striker Danny Ings’ opener was cancelled out by Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Raul Jimenez penalty in the 61st minute although the Mexican striker had two goals ruled out. Walking away with one point at the Molineux means that Southampton have secured their first point since a win against newly-promoted Sheffield United but that came 5 weeks ago. Jimenez also saw two goals disallowed by the VAR in the first half at Molineux.

Ralph Hassenhuttl went on to admit that the solid performance against Wolves will prove to be a confidence booster to everyone in the squad and will help the team put losses against Chelsea and Tottenham behind. As per the BBC report, Hassenhuttl was sure that his team would show up with great character and determination. The Austrian also added that he believed that the Saints would walk away with something against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“You could feel it in the dressing room. Everyone knew it was time to show up. I know it was two difficult games we lost before but we were very critical with ourselves and that is the right way to make something better. If you are not honest, it is difficult to improve. It was a step forward. We were more stabilised in this game, better organised with our shape. It absolutely helps morale. After the last three games, the situation is never easy,” said the former RB Leipzig coach to the BBC.
