Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted the Premier League champions need more improvement if they are to win the UEFA Champions League. The Cityzens resumed their league campaign post their international break with a dominating 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Manchester City put their shocking loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers behind and was impressive against Crystal Palace. The team created a lot of chances throughout the game and were solid in the middle of the park but leaders Liverpool's draw against Manchester United has reduced the gap at the top. The Citizens face Atalanta next in the Champions League and Pep Guardiola has gone on to admit that the team needs to work on a lot of things in order to be real contenders for the trophy.

"We miss a lot of chances in the final third and we have to do that to be clinical. When the people say about the Champions League being the target, we are still not ready. We create a lot and we don't concede, but we can still improve. We are a team in the last two seasons who score a lot and create a lot. I don't have doubt about that, but still we have to keep going and work on that," said Guardiola to the Sky Sports.

Guardiola was speaking in reference to the save made by goalkeeper Ederson in the second half. Had Christian Benteke scored the goal, the last 15 minutes would have been frantic for the champions and caused a few issues for their makeshift defense. Manchester City have been a force to reckon with and arguably the best team in the Premier League but Guardiola's men have been exposed on the European front.

During City's centurion season they were eliminated by Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool and last season they got VAR’ed from the tournament by Tottenham Hotspur. The Spaniard knows that his success at City will only be measured if he's able to win the Champions League and he is going to try everything possible to bring the European title to Etihad but insists that a lot of work needs to be done to have a real shot at winning the Champions League.
