Although Jamshedpur FC were one-man down for most of the part of the match, Odisha FC failed to capitalise and eventually lost the game 1-2. Odisha FC coach Josep Gombau looked disappointed after the game and he said that there was no excuse to lose the game after JFC were down to 10 men.

ISL debutants Odisha FC were off to a poor start as they went down by 1-2 goals against neighbouring team Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. Although Odisha had chances in the initial passage of the game, it was the home team which opened the account first as Rana Gharami scored an own goal.

However, Odisha FC also came back well with Aridane Santana getting the equaliser moments after Jerry Mawhmingthanga was brought down by Bikash Jairu wrongly and the Jamshedpur midfielder was given the marching orders.

But, Sergio Castel then managed to beat Francisco Dorronsoro in the 85th minute and the Men of Steel got the winner with five minutes on the clock. Odisha coach Josep Gombau looked disappointed during the post-match press conference and he hailed JFC for their performance in the second half of the match despite going one-man down.

"I think Jamshedpur played very well in the second-half. They were defending very deep. It is very difficult to play like that but it is no excuse to lose after the opponent went one man down," explained Gombau, reported ISL’s official website.
