Gameweek 4 is over and the last two managers are out in full flow for their post-match press-conferences. There is a lot to say after that intense and chaotic North London Derby, a game that ended level, with both Unai Emery and Mauricio Pochettino touching on a lot of points after the match.

Arsenal

The Gunners managed to produce a scintillating comeback in the North London Derby after going 2-0 down in the opening half an hour. Errors from David Luiz, Sokratis and Granit Xhaka saw Tottenham take a two-goal lead, before goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brought Arsenal back into the game. It also meant that manager Unai Emery’s post-match press conference was dominated by questions about the mistakes, but the Arsenal boss was pleased with the performance.

“Obviously after [being 2-0 down] we can be very proud of our response and also the atmosphere we created, and how our supporters pushed us to get back in the game after we scored, to get the second goal and then to have chances to score a third goal. Above all, the result, we deserved more. Also, we controlled the second half better than the first half,” Emery said

"Tactically, the first goal is one mistake because we played that action more with our hearts than our heads. We had two players trying to win the ball from Harry Kane and we needed to go with one, and the other with the cover. In the second half, we did that work perfectly but you concede one of these actions and they have very good players to score. The second goal is the same, one mistake.

“We created a very good atmosphere. The game was amazing for the football but for us it's not enough. I am very proud of our work, our players and our supporters. We need to continue working to develop the balance defensively in that moment,” concluded the Spaniard.

Tottenham

Tottenham were arguably the better side in the opening half of the North London derby, dominating not just the ball but also Arsenal. However, in the derby that had everything, but the second half wasn’t the best for the away side and that was emphasised by Mauricio Pochettino. The Tottenham boss was far from happy with his team’s performance but still left the stadium in a buoyant mood.

“Overall, I think we are happy with the performance, recovering good feelings. We can only be optimistic, and we are going to improve. We’re going to have the internationals now and it was good to finish with a positive feeling,” said the Tottenham boss.

“To concede in the last minute (of the first half) was a difficult thing for the team. We handed the belief to Arsenal and that was a big hit for us. But the team played really well. Playing like this, we are going to improve and get better.

“It was one of the best performances in five years we’ve had here at the Emirates. After all the circumstances it was an important performance, more important than the point or the table,” concluded the Argentine.
