According to Sky Sports, Atletico Madrid have made contact with Federico Bernardeschi’s agent over a potential move this summer despite interest from Napoli in the Italian. The 28-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Following an excellent 2016/217 season for Fiorentina, a lot was expected from Federico Bernardeschi when he signed for Juventus. But things never went according to plan for the Italian with him struggling to produce consistently and at the same level for the Old Lady. That was despite consistently featuring for the club over the course of five years, which saw the club allow his contract to expire without offering him an extension.

However, despite that, Bernardeschi has attracted attention from more than a few Italian clubs this summer with Napoli said to be the front-runner for his signature. But Sky Sports has reported that the 28-year-old has a new suitor in the mix as Atletico Madrid are considering a move. The Los Rojiblancos are struggling financially and thus are looking for cheap options, with Bernardeschi reportedly at the top of their shortlist.

The Italian’s experience at the top level with Juventus and the Italy national team has attracted Diego Simeone’s side with them still weighing up a move for the former Fiorentina star. However, despite that, Goal has revealed that Napoli are also battling it out as president Aurelio De Laurentiis has already made contact with Bernardeschi’s agent over a move. But the Partenopei have yet to come to an agreement over personal terms which does allow Atletico Madrid a chance at signing him.
