Emmanuel Petit, former Arsenal player, reveals that Mikel Arteta wanted to sign Euro 2024 star Nico Williams, but went for Raheem Sterling in a panic buy. Raheem Sterling has not been able to perform well in the current League stage games.

Emmanuel Petit, who has been a player for the Arsenal team decades ago, revealed that the team had no choice except Raheem Sterling. He continued by saying that the Arsenal team had lacked quality in the previous games as they went for Sterling after missing out on the other better options.

Petit said that the team wanted to sign Euro 2024 star, Nico Williams, during the summer. But unfortunately, they went towards Raheem Sterling in the form of a panic buy for the team. After a stunning performance by Williams in the Euro 2024, the team wanted to sign him desperately for the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, this move didn't come out as expected for Mikel Arteta, which resulted in Sterling being bought from Chelsea based on a loan deal. Emmanuel Petit said,“I know that was dreaming about Nico Williams, but he will never come to the Premier League. He will stay in Spain; he will go to Barcelona. Definitely. Raheem Sterling was a panic buy. For me, Mikel Arteta knows that he’s missing players, numbers in his squad, quality players in terms of rotation.”
