Tuchel Hails Elliot Anderson as Premier Leagues Best Midfielder

Thomas Tuchel praised Nottingham Forest and England star Elliot Anderson, calling him elite and one of the best in the Premier League. The 23-year-old, with four England caps, has impressed as a holding midfielder, topping Premier League recovery stats. Tuchel confirmed Anderson as a key figure ahead of England’s World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania.

For the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, England manager Thomas Tuchel praised Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, calling him “elite” and “one of the best in the Premier League.” The 23-year-old has impressed with his consistency, leading the Premier League in ball recoveries according to Opta, despite playing for a struggling Forest side. 

Anderson, who starred in England’s Under-21 Euros triumph, now appears Tuchel’s preferred choice as the No 6 in a three-man midfield. With Kobbie Mainoo out of form and Declan Rice deployed as a box-to-box midfielder, Anderson has become central to England’s World Cup plans. Tuchel emphasized that Anderson’s inclusion is fully deserved, describing him as a “complete, mobile midfielder with the right attitude.” 

The manager also welcomed back Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden but said both must earn their spots. England have already qualified for the World Cup and recently defeated Serbia 5-0 in Belgrade, a result that led to Serbia coach Dragan Stojkovic’s resignation. Tuchel insisted that England must maintain their standards and intensity regardless of qualification, noting that Serbia’s new coach Veljko Paunovic will bring renewed energy and motivation for the return clash at Wembley.
