Pep Guardiola was frustrated after Manchester City lost 1-2 at St James’s Park. Harvey Barnes scored in the 64th minute, and again soon after, Ruben Dias equalised. Guardiola felt Gianluigi Donnarumma was fouled before the winner and was upset about a denied first-half penalty for Phil Foden.

In the English Premier League clash at St James' Park, Manchester City slipped to a 1-2 defeat against Newcastle in a match filled with controversy and frustration for Pep Guardiola. City conceded the opening goal in the 64th minute when Harvey Barnes struck for the hosts. The visitors responded quickly as Ruben Dias made it 1-1 just four minutes later, giving City a brief spell of momentum.

However, Newcastle regained the lead almost immediately through Barnes again, a goal that stood after a lengthy VAR review for a possible offside involving Bruno Guimaraes. Guardiola was visibly upset with two major decisions. He believed goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had been fouled in the build up to Newcastle’s winner and was equally annoyed that a first-half penalty appeal for Phil Foden was turned down.

The City manager pointed out similar incidents in previous matches, hinting at inconsistency in VAR calls. Despite both teams creating chances, Guardiola felt key moments went against his side. The loss delivered a setback to City’s title pursuit as they struggled to capitalise on their equaliser and allowed Newcastle to seize the decisive moment.
