Barcelona may part ways with Lewandowski as his role declines. He has scored 17 goals this season compared to 42 last year, with only 12 league starts instead of 32. Despite a crucial late goal against Atlético Madrid, his overall involvement has dropped, making a replacement increasingly necessary.

For FC Barcelona, the ongoing season has highlighted a growing dilemma around Robert Lewandowski and his future at the club. Despite scoring a crucial late winner against Atletico Madrid, the veteran striker is no longer a guaranteed starter under Hansi Flick. He has started just 12 La Liga matches this season compared to 32 last year, reflecting a reduced role. Statistically, the drop is clear.

After scoring 42 goals last season, including 27 in La Liga at a rate of 1 every 99 minutes, Lewandowski has managed only 17 goals so far this campaign. His involvement in build-up play has also declined, with modest passing and touch numbers and limited impact outside the penalty area. Barcelona’s evolving style, built on quick transitions and dynamic wing play, often leaves Lewandowski isolated.

Flick has even experimented with alternatives like Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres in attack, signaling a shift in approach. With his contract nearing its end and the striker set to turn 38 before next season, Barcelona faces a major decision. While potential replacements are being explored, finding a player of Lewandowski’s pedigree remains a significant challenge for the club.
