FC Barcelona are ready to pay €30 million (£26.1m) to sign Marcus Rashford permanently from Manchester United. After scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists, Rashford has impressed in Spain. Despite interest from Michael Carrick, the forward plans to stay and sign a three year contract.

In the latest transfer developments, Barcelona have decided to make Marcus Rashford’s loan move permanent by agreeing to pay the full €30 million fee to Manchester United, without attempting to negotiate a lower price. After struggling during two difficult seasons at Old Trafford, the 28 year old forward has revived his career in Spain, scoring 10 goals and registering 13 assists for Hansi Flick’s side. His strong form has also put him back in contention for England selection ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

Although earlier reports suggested Barcelona might try to reduce the agreed fee, United remained firm, refusing to lower the price by even a single euro. Barcelona now view the deal as reasonable and affordable compared to similar players in the market. Rashford is expected to sign a three year contract on reduced wages compared to his previous deal.

Despite interest from Michael Carrick, who would like him back at United if appointed permanently, Rashford has no desire to return to Manchester. The transfer will help United financially, supporting their planned midfield rebuild and easing their wage bill. Additional funds may come from future sales, including Rasmus Hojlund, while departures such as Casemiro are also expected to reduce expenses.
