For the Bayern Munich manager, Vincent Kompany, the toughest opponent of his playing career was not Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, even though he described them as the best players he ever faced. Kompany played 621 senior matches between 2003 and 2020 and was a long-serving captain for Manchester City and the Belgium national team. During the session, he also answered light-hearted questions, naming Fortnite as his favourite video game and Konrad Laimer as the funniest player in the Bayern squad.

Reflecting on his career, Kompany said his favourite trophy was the 2011-12 Premier League title with Manchester City, decided by Sergio Aguero’s last-second goal. He credited Pep Guardiola and Roberto Mancini for shaping his football mentality and desire to win every match. Looking ahead, Kompany said his ambition with Bayern is simple and clear, to win everything.
