PKL 2019 | Very disappointing performance, especially by the defence, says Srinivas Reddy

Jaipur Pink Panthers’ coach Srinivas Reddy has pointed out that the poor performance from his defenders was the reason for their 20-point loss against 11th-placed Telugu Titans. The defeat leaves the Panthers one point outside the Top 6 behind UP Yoddha who have three games in hand.

After starting out in dream fashion with seven wins from their first nine games of PKL 2019, things have gone south for the Panthers from Jaipur. In their last 10 games, they lost or drew all but one — the previous game against Puneri Paltan. With yet another defeat yesterday, on home soil, their hopes of a playoff spot are all but over.

“This was a very disappointing performance, especially by the defence. The raiders have tried their bit but that effort was not enough to get us victory,” Jaipur coach Srinivas Reddy told reporters.

“It was essential that we win today’s match to stay in contention for the play-off. Now we have to depend on the other results even if we win both our upcoming matches. Had we won today’s match, the road ahead to the playoffs would have been far easier. Now we are in a more uncomfortable position than we would have liked,” Reddy added.

The Panthers will now take on fourth-placed Bengaluru Bulls next at Panchkula, on October 4.
