Virat Kohli critical of mid-series break

Virat Kohli is not too impressed with the breaks amid the Test series and also before the ODI series on England's ongoing tour, stating that the Indian team had not asked for the days off. Kohli has been critical of the break adding that the Indian team will ask for one next time they tour England.

India have a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, on the back of two back-to-back wins after the first Test ended in a stalemate. The break comes at a great time for England as they can now look to regroup and try to get something away from the Test series.

“We did not ask for the gap. It was a part of the schedule. We will make sure when we go there we also get 8-day gap after three Tests and 25-day gap between ODIs and Test series,” Kohli said ahead of the fourth Test in Mumbai.

It's not just the break in between Tests that has Kohli fuming. A 25-days gap between the Test and ODI series is also scheduled in which the English will travel back home for Christmas and New Year.

“Absolutely or vice-versa. We should also come back for a month as well (from England). No point we play there for three and half-months and everything we do is in the media’s eye and even our off-time is scanned. I would like to see the same thing here or we come back here as well,” Kohli added.

However, when asked if the break would hamper India's chances of winning the series, the captain replied, “It (the break) actually helped us rest a bit, reflect on what we have done in two games that we have won. We will just visualise and come back even more fresh compared to the last two Test matches. So, it was a good thing to happen and we certainly benefited from it.”
