Kings XI Punjab batsman Shaun Marsh was ruled out of the IPL on Monday after aggravating the back injury he picked up during the team’s game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 19. Shaun Marsh’s brother Mitchell Marsh, who plays for Pune, was also ruled out of IPL yesterday with a side strain.

According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the Aussie batsman has been carrying a niggle ever since his injury on April 19 and finally decided to return back home on Monday after aggravating the injury. He batted in the team’s game against Gujarat Lions yesterday and scored just one run off three balls. Marsh also missed Kings XI Punjab’s opening game of the IPL with food poisoning before scoring 159 runs in six matches at an average of 31.80.

Marsh’s injury will come as a big blow to the Punjab side, who lie at the bottom of the IPL table after managing just two wins in their seven matches. Kings XI will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on May 4 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
