Ganguly expects India to inflict 5-0 whitewash on England

The legendary Indian captain anticipates the Virat Kohli-led Indian contingent to continue their rich vein of form at home that saw them regain top spot on the ICC rankings.

Ganguly said, "India are playing superb cricket. I am expecting another whitewash like the one against New Zealand. They (England) should be worried," reported Firstpost.

After winning the first Test, England have lost the second to Bangladesh on a spinner-friendly track, and with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the Indian team, the inventors of the sport might be in for a tough ride.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan had, in fact, earlier warned the English after their overzealous celebrations on winning the first Test against Bangladesh.

"If they perform like they did against Bangladesh, it'll be 5-0," Vaughan had said.

He believes the only way England could compete with the world's No.1 side and avoid coming back without a win was to "park the bus".

"They haven't got enough expertise or wow factor with the ball to be able to blow India away. They have to try and stay in the game. If they try and play this expansive way India will just laugh and have them on toast and it will be a 5-0 whitewash. No question about it," said the 42-year-old.

"If you want to call it negative cricket, play negative cricket. The only way they can compete is to try and frustrate them and try to force the error."
