Uncertainty over Indian women's match against Pakistan in Asia Cup

"As of now, the Indian team will take part in the Asia Cup. But can't tell you whether India will play Pakistan or not," BCCI joint secretary Amitabh Choudhary told PTI on Thursday.

The BCCI is already miffed about the fact that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has docked the Indian women six points for not playing Pakistan in the ICC World Championship between August 1 to October 31. 

Surprisingly enough, the Asian Cricket Council website has marked the match between India and Pakistan on 29th November as an 'International T20', unlike the other matches in the same event. 

Following the escalated tensions along the Line of Control between the nations, the BCCI, led by President Anurag Thakur, has stood firm in its stance saying that they will not be resuming cricketing ties with Pakistan. These statements from the BCCI have already put the men's match at the 2017 Champions Trophy in jeopardy while also leading to a war of words between the PCB and the BCCI.

Both the Indian men and women's teams last faced Pakistan at the World T20 at home earlier this year.

India will play their opening match on Sunday against hosts Thailand at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok. The six teams participating in the tournament are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand.
