Ben Stokes is creating waves in the longest format of the game. And now, he could be termed as one of the greatest all-rounders in this format, along with Jacques Kallis. Stokes was able to reach the 7000 runs and 250 wickets mark in the third Test.

In the Test format, if you have managed to score more than 7000 runs, you will be considered a great batsman. If you have managed to take more than 200 wickets in this format, you will be considered as a lethal bowler. But there have been only two players in the history of the game who have achieved both.

Earlier it was only Jacques Kallis, the greatest all-rounder in the longest format of the game. And now, Kallis has another name who joins him, and it is none other than Ben Stokes. The English captain missed out on the second test against New Zealand, as he was under investigation for the nightclub incident.

But he made his comeback in the third Test and also made it count. In his comeback game, he went on to achieve the record of 7000 runs and 250 wickets in the Test format. This now puts Stokes in the list where only Jacques Kallis had his name.

Our Take

Ben Stokes could be considered as the modern day great in the longest format of the game. Even though his career has been affected by the controversies, he has been the main player for the English team in the longest format. Various players came and went, but Stokes remained to ensure that he has a legacy which no other English player would be able to achieve.
