Team India's new head coach Ravi Shastri is set to receive a huge salary from the BCCI, which could go up to Rs 8 crore per annum. Ironically, it was former head coach Anil Kumble who had demanded an increment during his tenure and the result came out a bit too late in Shastri’s salary.

It is learnt that the top officials of BCCI showed their complete agreement on Shastri’s hike, which is at least a crore more than former coach Anil Kumble’s salary of Rs 6.5 crore as reported by PTI. The other core members of Shastri’s team – Sanjay Bangar, R Sridhar, and Bharat Arun - are expected to be bracketed between Rs 2-3 crore taking into account the contracts they will be foregoing in the Indian Premier League and other media contracts.

Recently, the quest for Team India’s new head coach was ended when Shastri was selected for the post by the CAC committee, which includes Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.

Though the committee had originally suggested Zaheer Khan as the bowling consultant and Rahul Dravid as the batting consultant on overseas tours, Shastri chose to go with his choices for the assistant coaches.
