Ex-Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has predicted that the Indian women’s cricket team will beat England in final and will lift the ICC Women’s World Cup trophy. The 45-year-old also praised Harmanpreet Kaur’s stellar performance as she scored 171*, which helped India register a win in semifinals.

In the second semi-finals of the ICC Women’s World Cup, Kaur’s contribution of 171 off 115 balls helped India register a win against Australia by 36-runs and nail a spot in the final. She hit 20 fours and 7 sixes on her way to a blistering knock on the biggest stage that made the world acknowledge her potential.

Ganguly, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), also hailed Kaur’s performance, which helped India score 139 runs in last 11 overs. The former Indian captain has also backed India as favourites against hosts England in the upcoming final, which will be played on Sunday.

"I saw her innings, (Harmanpreet) Kaur was superb yesterday. They will beat England in the final on Sunday," Ganguly said at Eden Gardens as reported by PTI.

The CAB president also informed that the association has made profits of more than Rs 10 crore in the last fiscal year.

"We made a lot of profits this year. It's actually more than Rs 10 crore," the CAB president Ganguly said after their finance committee meeting.

The CAB working committee will meet on July 27.
