There are times in the IPL when a viewer is pleasantly surprised by what the players can pull off, while at times he can't help but laugh at the hilarious gaffes. Yesterday, Ankit Rajpoot gave fans a taste of the latter when he bowled a ball so wide that it landed on the adjacent pitch.

Having been brought in to replace Yusuf Pathan in the qualifier, not much was expected from Rajpoot with the bat but, coming in at No. 11, he contributed 4 runs to KKR's score of 107. The reason he received the call up to such an important game was because of his performances against Mumbai in the previous two games where he claimed four wickets in total.

However, with the pitch turning out to be a spinning track, Gautam Gambhir was forced to use his spinners more than his pacers. When the 23-year-old finally got the ball, Mumbai needed just 17 runs in seven overs, but that did not mean Rajpoot could not still leave his mark on the game. The youngster was smashed for a boundary off his second ball by Kieron Pollard before a couple of singles brought the West Indian back on strike.

On the fourth ball, Rajpoot tried to catch the big-hitting Pollard on unawares by bowling a slower ball outside off-stump. However what followed even brought a smile to Robin Uthappa's face. Rajpoot lost his line completely as he ended up bowling the delivery on the wicket beside the one in use. Not that the ball had anything to do with the result of the match, but it was a funny moment for all IPL fans to savour.
