The All-India Senior Selection Committee have named Ravindra Jadeja as the replacement for Axar Patel for the first three ODIs in the five-match series against Australia starting tomorrow in Chennai. Axar sprained his left ankle during a practice session and has been advised rest.

Jadeja, and Ashwin, who is currently plying his trade in English County cricket for Worcestershire, last represented India in the one-off T20I against West Indies in Kingston in July as the duo were rested as Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal were given the nod for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka and they didn't disappoint. Their impressive performances were rewarded with another three ODIs against Australia.

But it seems lady luck is not with Axar as he sprained his left ankle during a practice session and did not take part in the full-fledged nets session on Saturday. The BCCI medical team is monitoring his recovery.

The team for first three ODIs against Australia is as follows:

Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami.

Shoaib Malik or Johnson Charles? Who will score more runs?
