Manish Pandey has always had a safe pair of hands and today, he proved that yet again with an incredible effort to send Peter Handscomb packing. Pandey showcased amazing game awareness to pull off a screamer at the boundary but what was even more incredible was his control throughout the catch.

For the first time in the series, the Australian batsmen showcased some resilience as the duo of Steve Smith and Aaron Finch found the gaps with surgical precision before David Warner, in partnership with the comeback man Aaron Finch, put up a stellar opening stand of 70 runs in 14 overs. After Warner's dismissal, Smith and Finch took the onus and their 154-run partnership – Australia’s first 100+ partnerships in the series – helped Australia dominate proceedings.

However, things went south for the visitors when the wrist-spinning duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal managed to pick three quick wickets to help India make a stunning comeback in the game. The responsibility was on Peter Handscomb and Marcus Stoinis to guide the team to a big total – and the former seemed to be in the mood – but Manish Pandey spoiled his plans by taking an absolute blinder at the boundary line.

The incident occurred in the 48th over of the Australian innings when Handscomb charged down the track to hit a Jasprit Bumrah delivery over long-off, but ended up being deceived by a slower delivery. While the ball seemed to be sailing over long-off, the Karnataka star came into the frame and timed his jump to catch the ball. Once he landed back his feet, he knew his momentum would take him over the ropes so he calmly threw the ball in the air and, after going over the rope, came back and completed the catch with consummate ease. What was astonishing was that not once did the Indian batsman look like he was in a hurry at any point of time.

The catch changed the momentum in India’s favour as Australia failed to even cross 300-run mark, which at a point in time, seemed ridiculously easy.
