After a long time on the sidelines, this might be the year for the Delhi Daredevils franchise to aim for glory in the 2018 Indian Premier League. A new-look DD team will look to come out of the shadows and stamp their authority in the popular league under the leadership of local boy Gautam Gambhir.

The Delhi Daredevils franchise has been a part of the Indian Premier league ever since its inception way back in 2008. They dominated the 2009 edition of the tournament when they were led by Gautam Gambhir and topped the table that year. But silverware has always managed to elude the red and blue outfit that call the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi their home turf.

Over the years, players such as AB De Villiers, who scored a century in the 2009 IPL which was held in South Africa, Daniel Vettori, Tilakaratne Dilshan, Kevin Pietersen, Ross Taylor and Virender Sehwag have been associated with the DD franchise. In the bowling department, the legendary Glen McGrath was part of the franchise in its initial stages along with bowlers such as Zaheer Khan and Dirk Nannes have also been part of the team in the past.

The current squad assembled by the DD management group, boasts the likes of Chris Morris, Glen Maxwell, Shreyas Iyer, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, Mohammed Shami and the returning skipper Gautam Gambhir. They have strength in the batting and bowling department and have depth in their squad as well.

This might finally be the season where the Delhi based franchise will go for the ultimate glory in a bid to be termed as the IPL champions. Before they do that, we have put together a nice quiz to test your knowledge about the Delhi Daredevils team ahead of IPL 2018. Take this quiz and revive the memories. Former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan believes that on-field third umpires can play a massive role in reducing the no-balls and keeping an eye out on where the ball is going. He has also felt that stricter punishments should be given for those involved in a shameful work like ball-tampering.
