Wicket-keeping has often been an underrated component of the game and the wicket-keeper is only noticed when he makes mistakes and drops or misses chances. RCB wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock pulled off a Dhoni-esque stumping to dismiss KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin.

Over the years, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has redefined the art of wicket-keeping. He has an excellent ability to effect lightning-quick stumpings with those fast hands and take some difficult catches. Today (April 13), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) stumper Quinton de Kock pulled off a superb stumping to dismiss Ravichandran Ashwin.

After being asked to bat first, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) got off to a fast start as KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal put on 32 in 3 overs. But a fiery Umesh Yadav took three wickets in one over to put Punjab under-pressure. Karun Nair then joined KL Rahul in the middle and resurrected the innings with a 58-run partnership. But Rahul’s dismissal for 47 derailed KXIP’s innings and it was skipper Ravichandran Ashwin who was batting well and trying to get Punjab to a competitive total.

Ashwin who had walked into bat at No. 8 in the 14th over, looked very fluent. He had gotten to 24 in 17 balls when the 18th over was completed, smashing 3 boundaries on the way, and was key to any amibitious total for KXIP.

In the 19th over, Ashwin struck Yuzvendra Chahal for a brilliant six down the ground and brought up his highest score in IPL cricket. But off the next delivery, he was stumped. Chahal bowled it slower (than the previous delivery) and Ashwin tried to heave it across the line and missed it. De Kock collected the ball and whipped the bails off in a flash, very similar to how MS Dhoni does it. Watch it here!
