Justin Langer, ahead of the Perth Test, pulled one of his many buzzwords to describe Tim Paine’s character - “The toughest pretty boy”. Paine was indeed tough to handle today not only with his keeping, but he also warned Kumar Dharmasena to be attentive after he failed to see his stumping attempt.

Tim Paine's captaincy after the Newlands scandal has been of a huge help for the Australian cricket team to gain the credibility back that they had lost during the whole fiasco. Paine, a veteran in international cricket for a decade now, has been a statesman for the team, all despite being silent and as the innings in UAE suggested a tough character. While he doesn’t believe in throwing a word or two like the other Aussies of the previous era, he certainly has the audacity to give a warning to the umpire if he is not attentive enough.

Dharmasena was under-fire after Fox Sports released a video in which they showed that Ishant Sharma was not called even though he overstepped for all the six deliveries in an over when Dharmasena was at the business end of the game. That has kept him under strange supervision, despite the Sri Lankan creating a name for himself through immaculate umpiring in tough games earlier. The pressure told as he was unattentive at a time when Tim Paine attempted a stumping dismissal.

The first ball of the 74th over of the Indian innings that was bowled by Nathan Lyon beat the outside edge of Hanuma Vihari. After collecting the ball, Paine immediately took the bail off in an attempt to dismiss the Indian rookie. However, Vihari was inside the crease and Paine also knew that. He didn’t even appeal for it, but after seeing Dharmasena was not attentive enough, he said, “You weren't even looking!”.

After making that cheeky comment, he started preparing the stumps with the help of Vihari and it took the square leg umpire a few more seconds to realise and by the time, he came forward to check it, Paine had already prepared the stumps.
