VIDEO | Nathan Lyon turns umpire to guide Ishant Sharma about his off-stump

If Adelaide Test was underlined by some cheeky comments by Rishabh Pant, then Perth Test went a step further to see some funny conversations by cricketers of both teams. Today, Nathan Lyon joined the banter as he came forward to check Ishant Sharma’s guard - a job basically performed by umpires.

The stage was all set for Australia to secure their first win after the Newlands scandal, with India having a monumental task of getting as many as 175 runs on the last day without the help of Virat Kohli. As the day started, Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant were dismissed cheaply and it was just a matter of time that the series would be squared.

After getting the monkey off the back, Nathan Lyon decided to have some fun with Ishant Sharma, when the latter was checking his batting guard with umpire Kumar Dharmasena. Lyon came forward and asked Ishant which stump guard did he want to take. While Ishant said he wanted to take off-stump guard, he asked him again for the verification.

It was indeed funny as Dharmasena was smiling as well, before asking Lyon to go back to his position. Ishant also took it well and smiled at the off-spinner’s theatrics before resuming batting.
