India vs Australia | Shoaib Akhtar comes to the defence of Virat Kohli's 'on-field aggression'

With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy being squared 1-1 by the hosts Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth, the India-Australia juggernaut is headed to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) where the third match of the series will be played from 26th December. In the meanwhile, the opinions and criticisms about on-field banter between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Australian captain Tim Paine don’t seem to die, with Shoaib Akhtar the latest one to join the list.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has asked the people criticizing the Indian skipper to “cut some slack” expressing that the Indian skipper deserves to express his emotions on-field if he stays within the limits.

“@imVkohli is one of the modern greats of the game. Aggression has been a part & parcel of competitive cricket, especially when you are playing Down Under as long as it stays in limit. Please cut him some slack,” Akhtar wrote on Twitter.

During the second Test Kohi and Paine were involved in a prolonged verbal tussle and one stage the on-field umpire had to intervene to calm both the players. Later on, in the final innings of the match, Paine even told Indian opener Murali Vijay that how could he respect Kohli for the things he does on the field.
