MS Dhoni returns to India’s T20 fold; Hardik Pandya included in Australia ODIs
After getting dropped from the T20I squds in series against Windies and Australia, MS Dhoni, is returning in the New Zealand series, starting in February 2019. Hardik Pandya, who also missed the Windies series due to injury concerns, has also made a comeback to the team for the Australia ODIs.
Rishabh Pant’s fast emergence as a solid batman down the order has put immesne doubts regarding MS Dhoni’s future in the shortest format in the national team, albeit his position in the team for the upcoming 50-over World Cup remains certain. However, the selectors have decided to bring the former skipper back to the fold after Pant failed to make any sort of impact in the Windies series. Dinesh Karthik though has kept his place in the side as pure batsman.
Meanwhile, the selectors have also announced squad for the Australia ODIs, announcing the return of Hardik Pandya, who injured his ankle in Dubai during the Asia Cup. Pandya recently made a comeback to the Test squad for the Boxing Day and the New Year’s Test, and appears certain to find a place in the starting XI.
Virat Kohli will lead both the teams as Rohit Sharma will continue being his deputy. Pant has found a place in the Australia ODIs as a back-up option for MS Dhoni, while Khaleel Ahmed, who had a decent enough series against Australia, has been chosen to represent India in both teams.
